What are the proper use of pressure sensors and routine maintenance methods

Date:2022-05-11

What are the correct methods for daily use and maintenance of pressure sensors:

Note the following:

1. Prevent the transmitter from contacting with corrosive or overheated media;

2. Prevent dregs from depositing in the conduit;

3. When measuring the liquid pressure, the pressure port shall be opened next to the process pipeline to prevent slag deposition;

4. When measuring the gas pressure, the pressure port shall be opened on the top of the process pipe, and the transmitter shall also be installed on the upper part of the process pipe, so that the accumulated liquid can be simply written into the process pipe;

5. The impulse pipe shall be installed at a place with low temperature fluctuation;

6. When measuring steam or other high-temperature media, add condenser such as buffer pipe (coil) to prevent the working temperature of the transmitter from exceeding the limit;

7. When freezing in winter, anti freezing measures must be taken for the outdoor transmitter to prevent the liquid in the pressure tap from damaging the sensor due to ice volume expansion;

8. When measuring hydraulic pressure, prevent liquid impact (water hammer phenomenon) and avoid overpressure damage of the sensor;

9. When wiring, pass the cable through the waterproof connector (accessory) or winding pipe, and tighten the sealing nut to prevent rainwater from penetrating into the transmitter housing through the cable.

Daily maintenance measures for pressure sensor:

1. Check the size of the device hole: if the size of the device hole is not appropriate, some threads of the sensor are easy to wear during the device process. This will not only affect the sealing performance of the equipment, but also make the pressure sensor unable to give full play to its role, and may even cause potential safety hazards. As long as the appropriate device hole can prevent thread wear (thread industry specification 1 / 2-20unf2b), the device hole can usually be checked with the device hole gauge to make appropriate adjustments.

2. Keep the device hole clean: keeping the device hole clean and preventing melt blockage is very important to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. Before cleaning the extruder, all pressure sensors should be removed from the cylinder to prevent damage. When the sensor is removed, the melt may flow into the device hole and harden. If these remaining melts are not removed, their tops may be damaged when reinstalling the sensor. The cleaning kit can remove these melt residues. However, repeated cleaning process may deepen the damage of the device hole to the sensor. If this happens, measures should be taken to increase the position of the sensor in the device hole.

3. Select a suitable position: when the device position of the pressure sensor is too close to the production line, the unmelted material may wear the top of the sensor; If the sensor is installed at too low position, the blocking area of molten material may occur between the sensor and the screw stroke, the molten material may degrade and the pressure signal may be distorted; If the sensor is too deep, the screw may touch the top of the sensor during rotation and cause damage. In general, the sensor can be located on the cylinder in front of the screen. The front and rear of the melt pump may be in the mold.

4. Clean carefully; Remove all sensors before cleaning the extruder barrel with a wire brush or special compound. Because both cleaning methods may damage the sensor film. When the barrel is heated, the sensor should also be removed and the top should be scrubbed with a soft cloth that will not wear. At the same time, the hole of the sensor also needs to be cleaned with a clean drill and guide sleeve.
